I was commissioned by the marketing department to create a poster for the BDA’s ongoing sugar campaign which started in 2015. This included the creation of an A2 poster for distribution to all UK practices and a variety of supporting infographics for social media.
The BDA has been campaigning for public health legislation to limit the amount of sugar in food and drink products that children consume. Presented in a series of simply designed infographics and statistics. The campaign seeks to inform and increase awareness of the high sugar content in products and its unhealthy consequences.
The look of the campaign is inspired by confectionary packaging and is intended to be attractive and alluring in the same way that colourful sweet wrappers are to children. A delectable graphic style is used to attract the attention of parents and present a series of informative facts, tips and statistics.
Running alongside ‘Action on Sugar’ and Jamie Oliver’s ‘Sugar Rush Campaign’ the sugar campaign has continued to gain momentum with the government currently considering a new sugar tax to combat obesity and diabetes epidemics.
